Cruach Mhona, which translates to "peat stack" in Gaelic, is Bunnahabhain's second limited release for duty-free markets, following in the footsteps of Eirigh Na Greine and An Cladach. True to its name, this whisky is peated, marking a departure from Bunnahabhain's typically unpeated style.
Bottled at 50% ABV, this 1-liter release is presented in its natural state, without chill filtration or artificial coloring.
The nose is invigorated by crisp, sweet peat, complemented by herbal hay, dry smoke, and the scent of burning grass. On the palate, the whisky begins with a light, malty sweetness, evolving into a smoky, peppery, and salty character, with hints of seaweed.
The finish is marked by a lingering dry smokiness, accompanied by subtle notes of seaweed and spice.
